I have never been very good at baking but I’ve been trying it more lately. I made these chocolate donuts the other day and they turned out pretty good! They taste more like chocolate cake or a brownie than a donut. Well, a healthier version of cake. Here is a link to the original recipe: http://mywholefoodlife.com/2014/04/30/double-chocolate-donuts/. The first batch I made was a little dry so I added more almond milk and that seemed to help. The original recipe calls for 1/2 cup almond milk and I did a total of 3/4 cup.
- 2 1/2 cups oat flour (I just blended rolled oats in my blender)
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup almond milk
- 1/4 tsp salt
Preheat oven to 350.
Mix all the dry ingredients in one bowl.
In a small saucepan, melt the coconut oil, chocolate chips, vanilla and maple syrup and mix until everything is combined. Add it to the bowl with the dry ingredients.
Lastly, add in the almond milk and the eggs and mix everything until it’s combined.
Grease your donut pans (I used coconut oil).
Spoon batter into the pans.
Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes.
Wait until the donuts have completely cooled before removing them from the pans.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge. You can also freeze them for longer storage.
